Beta-Spice-Up Your Ginger Smoothie

As the cold weather finally hits us, it was time to think about smoothie ingredients that could warm the body, keep the sniffles away, improve circulation, decrease aches and pains, be a good source of vitamins and minerals as well as give an energy lift to fight the dark mornings. It’s certainly a tall order to achieve with just one drink.

Why not give our favourite winter concoction a go and see what you think for yourself. Say good morning to your new breakfast friend our... "Beta-Spice-Up Your Ginger Smoothie".

  • ¼ inch Fresh Ginger Root
  • ¼ inch Fresh Turmeric Root (if you can’t find fresh use ½ tsp powdered turmeric)
  • ½ Carrot (grated)
  • ¼ tsp Cayenne Pepper
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Seeds
  • 1 tbsp Quinoa Flakes
  • 1 Banana (frozen)
  • Honey to taste
  • Approx 300ml Almond Milk
  • 1 tsp Lucuma Powder

A friend recently introduced us to lucuma. It has a sweet, caramelesque taste that when mixed with the other ingredients, adds a smooth creaminess. With it’s naturally occurring beta-carotene, anti-inflammatory, anti-aging and skin-repairing effects… for us, it’s definitely a winner!

Blend all the prepared ingredients until smooth and just enjoy!
